Reverend Sally Mason Calhoun

The Rev. Sally Mason Calhoun has been the
Pastor of the Ashby Congregational Church UCC since 2004.
Before coming to Ashby Pastor Sally served for seven years
as the Associate Pastor at the Congregational Church of
Littleton UCC, Littleton, MA and prior to that as Interim
Pastor in United Church of Christ churches in Warren, Whitinsville
and Westminster, Massachusetts. Sally is deeply interested
in spiritual formation and has been leading retreats in
a variety of settings since 1989. An experienced educator
with a degree in Special Education from Fitchburg State
College, Fitchburg, MA , Sally taught in area schools before
entering the ministry. Sally received her M. Div. degree
with honors from Andover Newton Theological School, Newton,
MA in 1995. She resides in Littleton with her husband Dwight.

Mr. Ray Haapaoja

Mr. Haapaoja began serving as our church musician
during the winter of 2004. He earned his BA and BD degrees
from Gordon College and Gordon Divinity School, where he minored
in music. He directed the junior and senior choral and instrumental
programs at Narragansett Regional High School in Central MA
for seventeen years. He performed with the Boston Conservatory
Chorale as a tenor in the 1977 German-Austria tour with William
A. Seymour. He has also served as Assistant Conductor of the
Masterworks Chorale with Allen Lannom.
Mr. Haapaoja received his Masters of Music in Choral Conducting
from The Boston Conservatory and was a member of the choral
department staff. He served as Director of Music at Trinitarian
Congregational Church in Wayland, and directs the music programs
at Indian and Forest Acres Camps during the summer in Fryeburg,
Maine. Ray is active in the ìGospelites,î a country
gospel group that was organized in his home church in Gardner.
This group toured Finland in 1996 and performed in Florida
for Finnfest 2004.
Our
Choir
Our dedicated adult
choir of 8-12 voices sings weekly in worship between September
and June and rehearses on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:15am.
